What is CBD ?

The cannabis plant consists of several molecules of interest : Cannabinoids. The most widespread and most common is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, consumed for its psychoactive ("high") effects.

Unlike its cousin, cannabidiol or CBD is by no means psychoactive. According to this document produced by Addiction Suisse (an independent Swiss foundation recognized as a public utility), it could provide, among other things, a more or less powerful relaxing effect depending on its concentration.

CBD is not addictive unlike THC.

CBD is therefore not at all a substitute for THC.

What are its effects ?

CBD is also believed to be anti-inflammatory and analgesic and, according to this study from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, may even help fight or reduce some very serious diseases. According to the same document, CBD has relaxing, anxiolytic and antidepressant properties. This molecule would also act very strongly on the nervous system by blocking specific receptors, allowing a strong reduction of pain.

This molecule is being studied in many countries hoping to find a treatment for many pathologies.

Is the CBD legal ?

Now that you know that CBD and THC both come from the same plant, it may be unclear as to its legality on our territory.

Yes, the cultivation and consumption of cannabis is prohibited in France because THC is the dominant molecule. As THC has psychoactive properties, it is considered and classified as a narcotic in French law.

French legislation stipulates in its texts that "the level of 0.2% THC is not a threshold for the presence of THC in the finished product but in the plant itself. ». The CBD used by BAR A DIY® is well within these criteria which makes it conform to the national laws of our country.

That's why we find more and more CBD-derived products on the market : soaps, beauty products, creams, ... But be careful with the composition ! Many manufacturers take advantage of the grey areas in French and European laws to offer products that do not fall within the limits set by the authorities.

Usage recommendations

CBD e-liquids cause a more pronounced "hit" in the throat than with normal or nicotined e-liquids. It is therefore preferable to vape this type of liquid by indirect inhalation, ie by passing the steam in the mouth and then in the lungs (like a conventional cigarette).

Concerning the material, the CBD being a very expensive component, we will also turn more to pods or all-in-one kits whose power is much lower than the boxes and atomizers we are used to use for nicotine liquids. This will produce less steam but also, and most importantly, reduce the consumption of liquid. In general, it is advisable to use resistors whose value is between 0.6Ω and 1Ω and with a power around 20W.

Another advice we can give you is to own a pod or an atomizer dedicated to the consumption of CBD. This is for 2 reasons : firstly to avoid unpleasant surprises due to a remnant of CBD that could give you effects that you do not necessarily want before you start your working day. Secondly, the e-liquids CBD often have a taste that can be very pronounced, so you will avoid a mix of flavors that could displease you.
