Stop smoking during the confinement

In these very special times, no doubt new to most of us, staying at home for hours and days on end can quickly lead to a return to bad manners. Whether you live in a 30m² apartment in the center of town, or in the countryside with a 2000m² garden, Covid19 has forced us to change our habits. Not being able to leave the house when you want to, or having to comply with new hygiene measures, can be a source of stress for which we're not prepared.

As you may have guessed, going back to smoking because you're going round in circles isn't necessarily a good solution. In fact, it's a good time to quit! Indeed, confinement changes our habits and routines, and therefore breaks the rhythm of our cigarette breaks. Whether it's the absence of a place to smoke, the proximity of vulnerable family members (children, the elderly or people at risk), the fear of going out to the tobacconist's and therefore exposing yourself to Covid19, all these are good reasons to take the plunge!

Staying indoors should not be synonymous with resuming or increasing tobacco consumption. If you don't want to stop smoking altogether, at least try not to smoke more. Set yourself a limit on the number of cigarettes you smoke each day, or set a time limit in between. This is the first step towards avoiding bad habits that will be all the harder to break when you return to a normal rhythm.

If you really want to take advantage of confinement to give up conventional cigarettes, you can follow our advice. Especially in the early stages, avoid smoking to "fill" a void. Turn to new activities: reading, series, films, sports, games, etc... The aim here is to keep your mind occupied, so that your brain isn't nagging you every minute about your nicotine craving.

Play sports! You know it, we know it, but it doesn't hurt to remind you that physical activity not only helps reduce the frustration of withdrawal in your brain, but also helps your body cope better with nicotine withdrawal. Especially in times of confinement, not exercising can quickly lead to tension or "moody" behaviour. Even more so if you're in the process of quitting smoking. You can find many websites and videos on the Internet that enable you to exercise at home without the need for equipment. Here's an example that some of our team have been using for several years: Darebee.

You should also know that all vape companies are supposed to be open. FIVAPE (Fédération Interprofessionnelle de la Vape) filed a case with the relevant authorities and won: vape stores and internet sales sites are considered to be of public utility and first necessity. So, if you want to take advantage of this confinement to switch to e-cigarettes, you can go to a store or consult specialized sites.

Take advantage of this confinement to change your bad habits and rediscover yourself! If you have any questions about vape, don't hesitate to contact us!
